First Steps for Over Magnetic Resonance Imaging (OMRI) Imaging Applied to the Detection of Lung Disease

The CRAB team (University of Aix-Marseille) in collaboration with two other teams, a team of biophysicists (RSMB, Bordeaux) and a team of biomedical sciences (CIRI, INSERM, Lyon) have developed a new method opening the gates to an early diagnosis of protease / inhibitor imbalance during pulmonary inflammation. They thus developed a method for imaging the proteolytic activity of neutrophil elastase detectable at minute concentrations on the small animal using the MRI enhanced by the Overhauser effect. They relied on a unique device in the world and on the recent development of adapted contrast molecules. These results make it possible to apprehend new preclinical diagnostic methods ex vivo and in vivo in order to treat the lungs at the onset of inflammation.
