Industrial funding :

Our research group, located at the Institute of Radical Chemistry ICR (UMR 7273-CNRS) in collaboration with a leading international material industry, is currently looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on the project “New organic initiators for high value-added composites”.
The Institut de Chimie Radicalaire (ICR), directed by Dr. Didier Gigmes, is a Joint Research Unit between Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and CNRS located in Marseille (France). ICR was recently labelled by the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education as a major international actor in the domain of radical chemistry with high-quality facilities and teams with excellent level of scientific production. The postdoctoral position will be held in Marseille.

Organic electron donors (OED) based on totally organic structures are powerful reducers and have been successfully used in organic synthesis. Recently, we demonstrated that they also represent remarkable polymerization initiators to produce polymers of high industrial interest under competitive technical specifications. These reducing agents have thus emerged as an interesting novel source of reducing electrons avoiding the use of toxic and explosive peroxide or azonitrile priming species. The purpose of our project is now to synthesize new organic reducers and to apply them in the preparation of high value-added composites. A particular attention will be devoted to the development of air-stable polymerization-initiators storable under long-term and specific conditions.

Application : To support this research program, we are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate. The fellow will have a strong background in organic chemistry and/or radical chemistry. Knowledge in polymer chemistry is not mandatory. An experience in the use of a glove-box or the manipulation of air- and moisture- sensitive compounds will be appreciated. We are looking for a dedicated, curious, hard worker and autonomous candidate. Moreover, the candidate should have good communication skills, a good team spirit and will take benefit from an international research environment.
Requirement for the position : PhD in organic and/or radical chemistry.

For application :
The application should be sent by e-mail to Dr. Julie BROGGI (Contact : and should include :
• A detailed CV including at least one or two referee(s), able to be contacted
• A cover letter & a short research summary
